I was first introduced to the concept of handweaving during my textile design degree at Norwich University of the Arts and have been captivated by it’s intricate process ever since.

The natural world forms the principle inspiration for my handwoven collections. Colour, shape and texture are all elements that I take from plant life and landscapes which I translate into weaving from my own hand drawn designs. My interest in photography means that I’m never short of fresh ideas that I can draw upon and when I’m not weaving, you can often find me walking on the Yorkshire Wolds with my camera to snap up inspiration for my designs.

My main interest is creating woven art which provides me with the scope to fully explore how I can translate pattern and textures found in the natural world into my designs. Drawing on inspiration from my walks in the Yorkshire landscape, I use the complexity of weaving as a canvas for storytelling. By combining my weaving with hand embroidery, I am able to take this concept a step further to create textile art that is both engaging and communicates a narrative.

I also enjoy creating functional handwoven items occasionally, such as table runners, scarves and shawls.
